Innovative Ideas Grant Application

  • Select your YVC program from the drop down menu.
  • Enter the name of your host organization.
  • Enter the name of the primary contact for this application.
  • Enter the phone number of the primary contact for this application, including area code.
  • Enter the email address of the primary contact for this application.
  • Describe your Innovative Ideas project initiative. Be sure to include the following:

A summary of your project initiative
The goals you wish to accomplish
Community partners you will collaborate with
The construction or STEM skills the youth will be learning, and who will teach these skills. (Will you pay an industrial shop teacher or a local construction or STEM association with tools and expertise available? Do you have a skilled volunteer who can help with this?)
The impact the project will have on your community.
  • Specific dates and times are not required, although if you have them, add them here. Demonstrate that you have mapped out the logistics. For example, will this initiative take place over the summer for 2 weeks? Will this take place over 10 Saturdays until the project is finished and you have met your goal for service hours?

Remember that if your initiative takes more than two months to complete, you will need to submit a mid-project grant report and an end-of-project grant report. Your project timeframe will determine when these reports are due.
  • Describe what groups you will target for this initiative, and your recruitment strategies. For example, will you promote to middle and high school sports teams or math class? Will you ask science club sponsors to pass out informational flyers?
  • (i.e. If you anticipate 20 youth volunteers will each serve 20 hours, the total hours of service would be 400.)
  • Please describe any other important information for your initiative. This is your chance to explain why even though your initiative might not fit into other grants, your program should get this funding. If there are any additional resources you need from YVCHQ for this initiative, please note that here as well.
  • Attach your budget for your Innovative Ideas initiative. Be sure to include the following line items, in addition to any additional items needed for your initiative:

YVC t-shirts (recommended for all attendees to wear)
    Supplies (work gloves, tools, etc)
Staff time (payment to any current staff and additional staff you hire to help lead the project)
    Transportation
    Marketing/recruitment materials
Any general resources your program needs that may not be specifically for that project but may benefit it (i.e. hiring a part-time team leader, renting a truck to haul supplies, renting a space where projects may be held, purchasing a laptop that will allow your staff to complete grant reports, etc.)

If you know at the time of submission that any items will be donated, please include a notes section to your line items and indicate which items will be donated.
