The Don and Jean Sloan Youth Service Scholarship

The Don and Jean Sloan Youth Service Scholarship is awarded through Youth Volunteer Corps Headquarters. The $1,000 scholarship is open to active YVC volunteers who have demonstrated excellence in volunteerism and leadership and who are committed to making a difference in their communities. Applications for the 2024 Youth Service Scholarship are now under review and a winner will be announced soon!

Caroline Lubbe2023 Scholarship Recipient: Caroline Lubbe

Caroline, a volunteer with YVC in Kansas City, served 343 hours with YVC while balancing a variety of other volunteer and extracurricular activities. Caroline joined YVC as a sixth grader and quickly became a leader in the program through the Youth Advisory Board. Caroline expressed that YVC taught her about leadership, flexibility, got her out of her comfort zone, and created a love for service within her that is reflected in her daily actions. Throughout her 7 years of YVC service, Caroline served as a member of the YVCKC Youth Advisory Board and was Executive Team Co-Chair of the International Youth Advisory Board, while also volunteering for other Kansas City community organizations.

College Plans:

Caroline plans to attend Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in the fall to study cognitive neuroscience and medical humanities.
