2017 Affiliate Grants

2017 was the biggest year ever for affiliate grants, with more than $100,000 being awarded. Read on to learn more about the grants that were awarded in this year.

The following three grant opportunities were made possible by the Sunderland Foundation. YVC’s partnership with Sunderland aims to increase the development of and interest in trade skills prevalent in manufacturing and construction, which has been one of the hardest segment of the workforce to staff with skilled workers (Forbes Magazine). Funding from Sunderland Foundation acts as a catalyst for building/construction-based volunteer projects within the network.

Cornerstone Grants

The Cornerstone Grant is YVC’s largest grant opportunity to-date and five YVC affiliates were awarded $20,000 each. This grant is an investment in successful and sustainable solutions so YVC can reach more youth volunteers than ever before.

Building Our Future

Building Our Future Grants were awarded to affiliates doing truly exceptional work in their local communities. More than 20 affiliates received grants and mobilized youth in their communities to repair the homes of seniors, build bird feeders for local nursing homes, construct and install raised garden beds, and much more!

Rock Solid Projects – Youth Volunteer Grant

The Rock Solid Projects Youth Volunteer Grant awarded a grant of $300 and $200 to two YVC affiliates based on applications submitted by active youth volunteers. After reviewing each application, YVC’s International Youth Advisory Board members selected the two projects to make a reality. Learn more about them here!

Summit Grants

YVC’s Summit conference is held every year, celebrating and bringing together the YVC network. In 2017, this conference was held in Kansas City, MO where youth volunteers, YVC staff, and youth volunteer alumni participated in a workshops and activities with peers from all over the YVC network. YVC Headquarters invested $13,500 supporting affiliate attendance at the national conference.

International Youth Advisory Board

For the first year in YVC’s history, members of YVC’s International Youth Advisory Board received funding to attend Summit. IYAB’s only in-person meeting is hosted at Summit, so attendance is strongly encouraged for all members. This grant, totaling $5,632, resulted in the highest IYAB member attendance at Summit.

The Beauty and Praise of Altruists Foundation

Through a generous donation from The Beauty and Praise of Altruists Foundation, Youth Volunteer Corps provided five youth volunteers scholarships to attend the 2017 Summit. Click here and learn more about the youth who attended thanks to BPAF’s support!
